Our Mission
Starting as a 'church on the street', our mission has been to bring the fullness of church body to people living on the fringes of society -in a way that meets them where they are in their experiences and worldviews, bridging socio economic and educational inequities ensuring every person realizes they deserve to be known, valued, and loved. Many churches, doing great work, have the need to be supported by the community to cover the costs of running the church. We are the opposite; here the community is supported by the church.
Our Vision
Our name, Communitas, comes from the Latin word meaning "a community of people with a mission beyond themselves." That is both our name and our calling.
We envision a Christ-centered community where people from every walk of life experience authentic relationships, discover the transforming truth of God's Word, and learn what it means to follow Jesus together in the realities of everyday life.
We believe no one should face life's struggles alone. Through intentional relationships, we become the relational safety net that is often missing for those experiencing poverty, homelessness, isolation, or crisis. By walking alongside one another, we help people maintain stability, navigate life's challenges, and find hope when everything else feels uncertain.
As we serve, worship, pray, and grow together, we believe lives are transformed by the love of Christ, the truth of Scripture, and the power of the Holy Spirit. Our vision is to see people restored in their relationships with God and others, equipped to live with purpose, and inspired to become part of God's mission of bringing hope to the world.
Our Statement of Faith
We believe that Jesus is the son of God, the Word made flesh, the One who brings salvation to all. The more we lean into discovering what that looks like within our lives, the more we can experience His Kingdom on earth and with one another. The Bible and Holy Spirit are our guides. Love God, Love yourself, Love others. Evil exists, clothe yourselves with armor needed for the battle.
